Guide to the Perseus Digital Library

On several occasions I’ve mentioned Perseus as one of the best online tools available for Latin and Greek students, and for fans of the ancient world in general. Perseus is the home of a digital text library as well as an enormous digital image library - and it uses some of the smartest dynamic webtools available in order to make this huge quantity of information available to you - to everyone! - for free.
For anyone who wants to learn about ancient Greece and Rome, Perseus can keep you busy for years on end. Yet exactly because it is so large, the Perseus Digital Library can be pretty hard to navigate. It’s almost like you need to already know where you are going in order to get there.
So, in order to give people a sense of the many things that you can do with Perseus, I’ve written up a series of webpages with screenshots, let’s call it an Online Guide to Perseus.
I’ll be off in Pennsylvania exploring Perseus, and all kinds of online educational resources, with the Latin teachers at Mercersburg Academy for the rest of this week. I’m not sure how much I’ll be posting at XPLANA for the next few days - but you can always visit Perseus instead…! Seriously, if you have never visited Perseus, you should - although you might want to run through the Guide first so that you know what you are looking for when you get there.
And then when you get there, imagine how wonderful it will be when we have such comprehensive and content-rich sites for all the areas of the humanities!
