XPLANA CW Journals
Journals for Instructors and Students. XPLANA CW is a system driven by online publishing, and every user in the system has a Journal where they can publish their thoughts and ideas, sharing them with others. Anything that you create in the XPLANA CW system - contributions to a course discussion, every page of your course project - anything that you create in the system contains a link to your Journal. This journal is not connected to a specific course or specific subject matter area; you have just one Journal, no matter how many different XPLANA CW courses you might be engaged in.
Journal Entries. Journal entries can be created with a web-based editor or desktop client. Each entry can be designated as public, private, or restricted. The entire contents of a Journal can also be exported, in the event that a user leaves the system.
Interactive Features. A variety of interactive features are included to promote interaction and sharing among system users: comments and ratings, searching, bookmarking and linking, and syndication.
Profile. Each Journal has an attached user Profile, with a public side (viewable by all system users) and a private side (accessible only to system administrators and instructors).
Aliases. Instructors in the system can create an Alias user. This Alias user can author course content or participate in a course as a student (for role-playing games).
